April 28, 2025(1 event) – Those interested in encouraging more physical activity, gardening spaces, and outdoor activity opportunities in your communities - YOU ARE INVITED! Please see attached flyer, announcing the VIVA Summit to be held in Mescalero on Monday April 28th. The event is free, with breakfast and lunch provided. Registration is required; there are a limited number of spots! See registration link on flyer, or below here. April 29, 2025(5 events) – Participate in one of the following Program Acquisition Institutes. The next training is in Las Cruces, NM. It is a 3-day in-person training and will take place from April 29th-May1st, 2025. Training will be in English. The Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors curriculum is a family-informed, research-driven program meant to increase parent engagement and leadership skills and promote early development. In the Institute, participants will learn how to provide the AP/OD curriculum directly to families and caregivers with children 0-5. Scholarships are available for participating in the Institute. Additionally, we’ll discuss ways to support those around us who have experienced trauma, fostering resilience and understanding in our communities. May 20, 2025(2 events) – This course will illustrate the connection between trauma and its impact on regulation, relationship and academic, social, and behavioral struggles, all while working towards a better understanding of what influences behavior and what behavior is communicating. With better understanding comes a better response, one that supports healing, facilitates connection and builds resilience. This course will offer a working definition of trauma and will explore a simple antidote to the trauma response that is surprisingly at the fingertips of anyone at any time. This experience gives participants the opportunity to put on a trauma sensitive lens and explore the “trauma goggles,” to deepen understanding of the impact of trauma on the mind, body, and soul. A practical overview of basic brain function and impact of trauma on the brain’s organization, function, and structure, especially the stress response system. May 28, 2025(2 events) – This year’s summit will focus on the Opioid Settlement Solutions plan we created for Roswell/Chaves County to help direct the funds that flow to local governments from the various lawsuits and settlements stemming from the opioid epidemic. Join us as we advocate for the creation and expansion of strategies. Fifteen breakout sessions will inform and inspire. Nick Boukas, Director of the Behavioral Health Services Division of the New Mexico Healthcare Authority, will host the keynote address to share promising strategies New Mexico has launched to help those in need. Representatives from providers and organizations who help those facing substance misuse or mental health concerns are encouraged to attend.
